'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' plot news: Hints at Wonder Woman's age

The much anticipated "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is guaranteed to be one of the most phenomenal films of 2016 as The Dark Knight (Ben Affleck) battles it out with the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill). But the movie will also feature a heroine — Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) — and according to the latest rumors, the film will feature her showing up through the decades, which will give moviegoers a hint of how old she is.

According to Umberto Gonzalez from Heroic Hollywood, the Amazonian Princess will be very old in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." This will be backed up in the movie with photographs of her that date back hundreds of years, according to the rumor. This means that while Bruce Wayne's ancestors were still young, Diana of Themyscira was already around and looking much the same age as she is.

According to Screencrush, Wonder Woman's advanced age makes sense given her mythological background. In the DC comics, the heroine is hundreds of years old. Moreover, previous rumors about the film indicate that "Batman v Superman" is using the New 52 origin story for Wonder Woman, in which she is the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, which means that she remains at age 23 throughout the centuries.

So far, this latest rumor about Wonder Woman hasn't been confirmed by Warner Bros. and DC studios. The film's plot has been kept firmly under wraps, which has resulted to a lot of rumored spoilers circulating online since last year.

According to Comicbook.com, the movie's story line will be about the debate on whether Superman is a hero or a threat to mankind. In the film, detractors will point out Metropolis' destruction as proof of Superman's ability to destroy, and both Batman and Lex Luthor will find ways to take down the Man of Steel and limit his influence on the city.

The rumored plot is the one that has so far been in sync with the film's official teaser trailer, which features a debate whether Superman is "just a guy doing the right thing" or he's a false god who should be feared.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
