'Batman: Arkham Knight' New DLC news: Features adventures with Batgirl

Adventures with Batgirl are on as she is set to appear in the new Batman: Arkham Knight downloadable content (DLC), which will be released in PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by July 14.

The expansion pack entitled Batgirl: A Matter of Family allows players to take on the role of the badass Batgirl, who is set for new missions, secrets, side quests and a team-up with Robin via the Dual Play system, as reported in Gamespot.

The DLC, created by WB Games Montreal, takes place in a location called the Seagate Amusement Park, and according to Entertainment Weekly, it is a "nautical theme park" found atop an oil rig, which the Joker had set up as a death trap.

"We wanted to recreate the feeling of being trapped in a bizarre and unique open environment playing a game of cat and mouse with the Joker," said Justin Vazquez, game design producer.

In the expansion pack, Batgirl will work with Robin to break into the theme park and together, the duo will not only take on the Joker's minions but the psychopath himself.

The Dual System allows gamers to play Batgirl and Robin alternately when fighting with the Joker and Harley Quinn, a get-together which Vasquez described to be a "real thrill."

Batgirl will be fighting with her own combat skills matched with super brain skills as she uses them to solve puzzles, control objects and take down enemies.

Vasquez added that Batgirl's hacking abilities make her stand out from other characters.

The intention of the game is to make Batgirl less powerful than the Dark Knight but still have an edge over him due to her hacking abilities.

No PC version has been announced, but PS4 and Xbox One users can download the expansion pack starting on July 21, but for season pass holders, the game is offered at an earlier date, July 14, for free.
