With "Avengers: Infinity War" tipped to be the supposed pinnacle of everything that has been going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is understandable that almost every superhero in the franchise will be making an appearance in the movie. But how about the Marvel TV Universe that has slowly been gaining momentum over the last couple of years? Is it possible for Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and the soon to be introduced Iron Fist (Finn Jones) join in the fight against mad titan Thanos (Josh Brolin)?
The question is not exactly new. In fact, it has been pushed by fans for quite some time now as "Infinity War" stocks up on characters while Marvel and Netflix's partnership continues to grow as well. And while the idea of having an interaction between the two groups of Marvel heroes in mainstream media sounds like so much fun, it is not necessarily easy to take the plunge. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted that it is not as simple as just bringing in more game players as they also need to also make their appearances worthwhile.
"I think it's extremely impressive what Netflix has done and it will be the same answer I always give, which is, 'It all depends on timing.' It all depends on how to do it because I don't think what anybody wants to do is have such important characters show up for one second," the producer told Collider in an exclusive interview. "Black Panther and Spider-Man to me are the high bar in Civil War of how you can bring in new characters into something. Vision and Ultron, Wanda and Pietro in Ultron. And it takes a lot of screentime, and it takes a lot of work. Infinity War has a lot of people in it already. So it just depends on how we could figure it out."
Indeed, Marvel TV heroes coming to "Infinity War" may pose some discord in terms of what they can do in the upcoming massive battle. It is no secret that Thanos being the big baddie of the arc makes the film feel a bit more cosmic than grounded, and the New York locals are more small-scale in nature.
That being said, a quick cameo may actually suffice with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist helping the Avengers' cause in their own small way. By that time, the small-screen ensemble has already assembled via Netflix's "The Defenders," tipped to come out sometime next year, and it will be interesting to see them somehow contribute.
"Avengers: Infinity War" is set to debut on May 4, 2018, followed by "Avengers 4" on May 3, 2019.
