Rumors about "Attack on Titan 2" are extreme these past few days, plainly because a release date for the second season of the anime is still shrouded with mystery. Wit Studio and Kodansha Comics have not dispelled nor confirmed its existence, leaving fans at the edge of their seats.
The anime relies on the manga, which is the crux of the hit series. If the rumored December 2014 release of "Attack on Titan" volume 15 comes to pass, then Wit Studio will shortly be on the move to production and an April 2015 release date should be a sensible presumption.
According to IDigital Times, the first season of the series covered eight and a half volumes. If Wit Studios will stick with it, they would have more than enough material for the upcoming season and the next. There will be more room for a third one as well and the site bets on a 2018 release for that one.
However, it is important to note that Hajime Isayama, the creator of the manga, has yet to corroborate. Word on the street is that Isayama is now planning to work on 20 volumes instead of 16. Moreover, Volume 14 is said to be slated for a U.S. rollout as early as Nov. 14.
So as of now, a mid-2015 release is the likeliest time fans could expect the second season of the much loved anime series to come out. While some may think the wait is such a grueling task to take on, here's a major treat to turn the patience into a major payoff.
An "Attack on Titan" project lies ahead and it involves a larger-than-life crossover with the Marvel Comics universe. New reports say that the titans are set to shake up Spidey's world.
Marvel talent scout C.B. Cebulski teased everyone on Twitter this week saying, "Not a joke, folks. Attack on Titan and the @Marvel universe are crossing over! In 2 weeks. In Japan. Want a teaser?"
There is also a two-part live-action movie to watch out for. The first one is set to debut on Nov. 22 this year, titled "Crimson Bow and Arrow." It will cover the initial 13 episodes from the first season. Part 2 called "Wings Of Freedom" will go from the 14th episode onward and is scheduled to be released sometime next year.
Lastly, a prequel titled "No Regrets" is ready for premiere in Japan on Dec. 9 this year. It will tell the tale of a ruffian Levi before he earned his noble title as the world's strongest soldier. "No Regrets" will also recount Commander Erwin's trail toward the events that shaped him into what he is today. The spin-off will end by Apr. 9 next year and fans hope that the culmination will immediately be followed by the advent of "Attack on Titan" season 2.
