For the many folks who have been awaiting news about Attack on Titan, season 2 has been confirmed for 2016.

This was revealed at a stage event last April 11 where voice actors Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Yuuki Kaji (Eren), and Marina Inoue (Armin), were on hand.

For those who are unaware, Attack on Titan is a story on three friends who joined the military Garrison with the intent of settling the score in a world which is threatened by giants called Titans. The three lost their families to the titans to exact revenge.

For the time being, Attack on Titan will be unveiling some other stuff. It all starts with the second compilation film Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom which will be released on June 27, 2015.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom will cover the last 12 episodes of the first season. It appends the first compilation film, Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow which came out on November 22, 2014. 13 compressed episodes were shown.

Another thing that should keep Attack on Titan fans occupied would be the light novel series as well as two live-action films.

The light novels will narrate the story of Mathias, the son of a wealthy merchant named Rita (daughter of apothecary. Rita is part of the military Garrison and Mathias turns into a bandit after the Titans breach the Wall Maria.

The expected date of release for this light novel titled Harsh Mistress of the City will be somewhere between August and September.

Lastly, two live action films will be released as well on August 1 and September 19. The films will star Haruma Miura as Eren, Kiko Mizuhara as Mikasa and Kanata Hongo as Armin.

With season 2 seemingly still a long way off and no exact date of release, these spinoffs and live action films should suffice for the time being and keep the anime followers occupied.
