Apple BMW car rumors 2015: Tech giant rumored to partner up with BMW for a car project

Apple is reportedly in talks with BMW for a possible collaboration on a car project.

While Apple is a known giant in the tech industry for its popular high-end gadgets, the company is said to be considering the possibilities of manufacturing a car under its name.

In a report from Reuters, it was stated that Apple visited Liepzig, Germany the previous year to see how BMW makes its vehicles.

During that visit, Apple executives also reportedly asked details on "tooling and production," while BMW gave some signal that it is ready to license its components.

This information reportedly came from sources who are familiar with the subject of the two companies' car collaboration.

The rumor pointed out that Apple wished to use "i" cars from BMW as basis for the Apple car and this rumor has been going around for many months.

The sources for Reuters also said that the discussion between the two companies did not have a conclusion.

But reports stated that Apple seems to want to develop a car carrying the brand name, while BMW is cautious about divulging its processes since it doesn't want to become just a supplier to the tech giant.

At this point, the two don't have plans to build a car together but sources indicate that "exploratory talks" between the two companies could happen again soon.

There's not a lot of details on the possible Apple car project, but according to Mac Rumors, the tech giant has been enlisting the help of different car experts for the last few months.

It was also reported that several Apple employees have been working on the auto project and that the company has been consulting with experts from popular companies such as Ford, GM, and Tesla.

Apple changed the face of smartphone technology when it launched "i" devices many years ago.

Venturing into the car industry would be something new for Apple, but experts believe that if the company were to launch an electric car, companies like Tesla will definitely face a tough competition.
