Apple iPhone 7 rumors: Flagship to boast uber-thin build and dual camera setup

Apple will give the iPhone 7 a trim and will give its imaging department a nice twist, according to a new report.

Word on the street is that the iPhone 7 will be between 6mm to 7mm thin. Either way, this will make it thinner than the iPhone 6s, which is 7.1mm thick. Users won't have to worry about the device's battery life when Apple shaves off a few millimeters as well.

Apple has reportedly found a way to give the iPhone 7 a slimmer build but also a bigger battery. The new technology is referred to as fan-out. It packs together the semiconductors and chips inside the device more compactly to save space.

The free space will reportedly be used for a bigger battery, which should provide longer hours of usage while making the iPhone 7 look as good and sleek as it can be. On top of all these exciting upgrades, Apple is also changing things up in the camera department.

The Cupertino-based company will reportedly go for a dual-camera setup in the iPhone 7, as per Chinese tech portal Bastille Post. A live image featuring the dual camera in a prototype has also been released.

The authenticity of the image is still subject to scrutiny, but even if it is proven legitimate, the fact that it is still a prototype means that Apple will make changes as they progress in the production and development of the iPhone 7.

For now, an iPhone 7 sporting a dual camera is a promising prospect. Apple is not known to make drastic tweaks and changes on the imaging side of its smartphones, but with this, it hints that Apple is prepared to make a bold move.

The iPhone 7 is expected to be launched this September.
