A new photo believed to be the Xiaomi Mi 5 recently made the rounds, potentially giving the tech world their long-sought-after first look at the much-awaited flagship from the China-based company, which users have been waiting for since July.

The photo shows the alleged upcoming smartphone looking a lot like the Xiaomi Mi Note but the most noticeable aspect about the device is its ultra-slim bezels, which make it look all the more premium. BGR notes that the way it was presented also hinted that the device may have a feature like Apple's 3D Touch.

If this is accurate, the said publication expects the Xiaomi Mi 5 to make that happen by making use of the new ClearForce technology introduced by Synaptics a few months back. The same tool is rumored to be utilized by Samsung for the Galaxy S7.

Oodles of details and leaks about the Xiaomi Mi 5 have been churned out by the rumor mills in the past months. So far, the general consensus is that it will come in a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which is believed to play a part in the smartphone's delay.

But as Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has already said, it takes the tech firm 12 to 18 months to put out a flagship, adding that theirs will be "close to perfect" when its covers are finally removed. More about the specs, the handset is speculated to sport 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

It will reportedly run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the MIUI 7, the latest of the company's user interface, juxtaposed in the software. In the camera department, users are looking at a 21-MP rear-facing shooter and an 8-MP front-facing camera.

It has been 17 months since the Xiaomi Mi 5's predecessor was made available to the public. This gives media outlets the impression that the new-gen smartphone will be here as early as January to February.
