X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover movie release date news: Possibly coming in 2018?

Fantastic Four 20th Century Fox

With a lot of crossovers in the air as far as TV series and future movies are concerned, why not a crossover between the Fantastic Four and the X-Men?

Such could only happen in the comics but with movies made possible with the same writer (Simeon Kinberg), why not make it happen?

Apparently there are rumors that such could happen and it may come by 2018. A lot of that of course would depend first on whether the rebooted Fantastic Four and the next X-Men movie Apocalypse will perform well in the box office.

As far as X-Men is concerned, there is no doubt that the movie has made its mark with various previous installments. With regards to Fantastic Four however, it remains to be seen if the rebooted version would be well received by fans especially with its new crew.

Beast and Storm 20th Century Fox

For the Marvel comic readers, it is apparent that the scenario is nothing new if you talk about the comic version. It has happened in many instances but a movie setting is entirely different. Stories could follow what the comics offered though it may incur heavy costs in casting and of course film settings, hence the reason why their performances have to be placed into consideration first.

Assuming it does materialize, what could be the storyline?

One scenario as pointed out by Screen Rant could find the two factions crossing paths and initially battling each other. It could end up with both teams facing a common and large evil (Galactus?) that would require them to join forces.

Of course there is also a possibility that their team-up would be a means to tie them up with the Avengers: Infinity Wars. But with that Avengers flick (Part 1) coming in 2018 as well, they could enter the scene perhaps in Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 2.

Would this alliance be something you would consider checking out should Marvel Studios make it happen?
