Is Rob Van Dam retiring any time soon?

After doing a Q&A at the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, North Carolina, RVD bares that he is in between contracts with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) but is not allowed to hook up with other sports entertainment bodies which could breach his current contract.

Although he is no longer as frequently seen as before, the 44-year-old professional wrestler seems to be fine in taking his sweet time before returning to the WWE action.

As far as retirement is concerned, the answer to that is up in the air, although it seems that RVD is unlikely to announce anything in that aspect soon.

He did mention the possibility of doing a retirement tour, although there are no immediate plans for such as of yet.

Van Dam last saw action during WWE Smackdown in August 2014. He faced Seth Rollins but eventually lost.

A month earlier, Van Dam was one of the participants chosen to compete for the WWE Championship Money in the Bank Ladder match. Randy Orton came out as the big winner in that match, although RVD received a huge ovation for his return.

Van Dam has had a storied career in the WWE, including being the WWE Intercontinental champion (2001–2002). He was originally part of ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) before eventually making the jump to the WWE in the mid 2000s.

Aside from the WWE, Van Dam has also seen action for TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling).

With an interesting career in the books, Van Dam is likely to slowly shy away from the active wrestling scene. Even though he has been cast in some surprise appearances, it is likely that RVD would soon call it quits.

At the moment and with the WWE filled with talent backstage, Van Dam is already considered one of the WWE legends who will likely be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame.
