WWE Rumors: Kevin Owens in hot water again?

Is Kevin Owen in hot water right now?

The former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) NXT champion was at WWE Battleground as he faced John Cena yet again. Many speculated that Owens could come out of it with the U.S. title in tow but apparently such was not the case.

Owens succumbed cleanly to John Cena when the reigning U.S. champ used his patented submission hold (STF) to force Owens to tap.

After WWE Battleground, the belief was that this feud would carry on. In fact, there were some who believe that Owens may soon be the new U.S. champion.

Now however, it seems that the tables have turned. Owens is getting some heat and some WWE personnel are reportedly unhappy with the Canadian wrestler. In fact, the 31-year-old wrestler is reportedly set to be demoted from main event star to a mid-card wrestler.

As an example, mid-card wrestlers include the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Rusev and Cesaro. Hence for now, it seems that Owens has been bunched up with that group.

There was no mention of what exactly Owens did to merit the flak he is reportedly getting although rumors have somehow linked WWE executive Kevin Dunn.

Whatever the case may be, don't be surprised to see Owens going back to WWE NXT and possibly venture out to regain his old title. Owens lost the belt to Finn Balor at Beast from the East event held last July 4.

Moving forward, that confrontation between Cena and Rollins on July 20, 2015 WWE Raw episode seems to make sense now. Although it hasn't escalated (yet), it seems that we will be seeing a Cena vs. Rollins tiff at WWE SummerSlam.

Will the WWE title change hands?

WWE SummerSlam is memorable to Cena, particularly last year. At that time, Cena was still the WWE champion until Brock Lesnar manhandled him and won the belt in the process. So could Cena be primed to win the title away from Rollins who is reportedly the reason why WWE ratings have been dropping lately?

Such may be the case considering that Rollins' previous adversary, Lesnar, is now in a storyline with the Undertaker and Roman Reigns is expected to continue to tussle with Bray Wyatt (and maybe the Wyatt family).
