WWE Rumors 2015: Bobby Lashley open to WWE return

Bobby Lashley Wikipedia

Bobby Lashley is a name that may be familiar to some WWE followers, particularly who have been fans starting 2004.

Currently with signed with TNA, Lashley appeared in a recent episode of Submission Radio. Much of the questions thrown at him was tied up on the current situation of TNA with Destination America, something he believes will eventually be settled.

With that thought and possible TNA cancellation, Lashley was asked if he would ever consider a return to the WWE. His answer was a simple but positive "SURE".

Lashley left the WWE in 2008 after a falling out with the WWE creative team. But all that seems to be water under the bridge now as Lashley looks forward to a possible return. If so, he could follow the footsteps of another TNA star who made the jump, Samoa Joe.

Lashley invaded the WWE scene in 2004. He mostly worked in the background though he does hold the distinction of being a former United States champion. He did the trick in May of 2006 when he defeated JBL (John Bradshaw Layfield) only to lose the title two months later to Finlay.

Lashley has been involved in a number of pay-per-view events, the last of which was the Great American Bash in against John Cena. His last wrestling match was against Mr. Kennedy in an episode of RAW. That match saw him being kicked in the shoulder through the steel steps by Mr. Kennedy, allowing him some time off to heal his injuries.

By the time he was ready to return, the WWE creative team unfortunately had no slot for him to perform. The WWE released Lashley on February 4, 2008 and the mixed martial artist has since been involved in independent promotions and of course TNA and the MMA.

Given that Lashley has sounded off on a possible return to the WWE scene, will Vince McMahon and Triple H be interested? His case is somewhat similar to that of Samoa Joe since Lashley is already 38.

The WWE has been known to be particular about age but Lashley, being a superstar that he is could be another exception. Also, it could be interesting to see him go up against another former MMA alumnus, Brock Lesnar.
