WWE Royal Rumble 2016 rumors: Alberto Del Rio vs. Kalisto U.S. title match announced

As expected, Alberto del Rio and Kalisto will meet again but this time at the 2016 World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Royal Rumble.

Del Rio will defend the U.S. championship against Kalisto once again. Kalisto pulled off an upset at WWE Raw last week, but Del Rio regained it when the two figured in a rematch at WWE Smackdown with some assist from Wade Barrett.

The WWE Universe approved of Kalisto winning the title, seeing that Del Rio hasn't really lived up to being a U.S. champion ever since wresting it from John Cena at WWE Night of Champions.

Del Rio has spent more time being active as a member of the League of Nations rather than defending it, a reason perhaps why many felt Kalisto could inject new life into the seemingly forgotten title.

Right now, it remains to be seen if the title will change hands again. The WWE creative team may, however, want to look into the fact that the fans loved it when Kalisto pulled off that upset on Del Rio last week.

But then again, it seems that there were some who were in favor of Del Rio getting back the title if this poll from NoDQ.com is to be a basis.

Either way, the U.S. title has diminished and has practically been forgotten. If Del Rio is to hang on to it, the best he can do right now is defend it against someone worthy. Aside from Kalisto, the creative team could consider maybe Heath Slater or Curtis Axel to help rev things up for the Social Outcast.

Adrian Neville could be a worthy title holder as well. The thing is the WWE needs to get their other stars to work and perhaps spur up some life if they are inclined to improve their ratings.

There is a chance that Kalisto could win it back at the WWE Royal Rumble, but that would all depend on what the WWE has in mind for the said undercard.
