WWE Elimination Chamber news update: John Cena vs Kevin Owens to fight for the US Title

Finally, the storyline involving John Cena and Rusev for the United States Title is over. After losing for the third time in a row, Cena is moving past this storyline and it looks like Rusev has something brewing with Lana and Dolph ZIggler.

So who is the one Cena will feud with next? Kevin Owens.

Kevin Owens is the current WWE NXT champion, the developmental arm of the WWE. Owens appeared on WWE Raw after WWE Payback but not to accept the weekly United States title open challenge. Rather it was to introduce himself to Cena who Owens incidentally laid out complete with the "You Can't See Me" gesture.

Owens' appearance was part of a promotional angle for his upcoming title match against Sami Zayn. Incidentally, Zayn had locked horns with Cena some time ago for the U.S. title.

Owens declined the challenge and stressed that when he does face Cena, it would be under his own terms. After the attack, it would later be announced that John Cena and Kevin Owens would face off at WWE Elimination Chamber for the United States Championship.

The bump should benefit Owens more, one of the highly praised wrestlers even on an independent capacity. He is also known as Kevin Steen.

With their impending match, it remains to be seen how Cena and Owens would size up each other. An Owens victory (or can it be considered an upset?) will surely be something that could catapult Owens in the WWE ranks. A loss would hardly make a difference since the next basis for his impact would be how he stands up to Cena.

With that match made, it joins previously announced official matches. That includes the match between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for the WWE Heavyweight title, the Elimination Chamber match for the vacant Intercontinental belt and the Elimination Chamber for the WWE Tag titles currently held by the New Day.

WWE Elimination Chamber will be held on May 31, 2016 at the Corpus Christi, in Texas.
