'WWE 2K16' release date: ad sees superstars 'raise some hell' with reminders of the past

 2K Games

With less than a week away from the release of "WWE 2K16," 2K Sports released a blazing new ad where WWE superstars "gather 'round the fire to raise some hell." The fighters are seen creating a bigger fire out of mementos of their rivals that reminded them of a painful past.

The ritual is started by cover star Steve Austin. Other superstars like Sting and Seth Rollins followed. WWE Diva Paige was also there to burn a part of her history as well as Kane, who wore long locks, his iconic red and black mask and his old, definitely more menacing costume.

As 2K Sports details, the unique "WWE 2K16" commercial means more than just tossing random objects on to the fire. The wrestlers are putting "offerings on the flames to overcome the trials of their pasts." As Dual Shockers pointed out, doing such will guarantee victory in the future.

The trailer also shows video game versions of the matches the fighters hark back to for the last time before watching a reminder of these very battles reduced into ashes. As the fighters replay these moments, they look ahead into a more promising future in the ring.

Fans are enthralled by the new "WWE 2K16" commercial mostly because of how different 2K Sports' take was in it. Needless to say, the promo did not fail to build more hype around the nearing outing of the latest iteration of the popular wrestling simulation.

"WWE 2K16" will be out on Oct. 27. in it is the biggest roster in the history of the franchise. A total of 120 characters will be playable in the game. Those who pre-ordered the game are guaranteed the opportunity to fight in the ring as The Terminator.

The game is also touted to be the best in its lineup yet in terms of gameplay, visual quality and customization.
