WWE 2015 rumors: Can Sting defy Rollins and The Authority?

Seth Rollins continues to reign and now, the next man to test him is a legend, someone who reigned as champion as well during his WCW (World Championship Wrestling) regime — Sting (Steve Borden).

Sting is best remembered for his historic clashes during his prime and his sudden insertion against Rollins does come a bit of a surprise. After World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) SummerSlam, there were many expecting a rematch between Rollins and John Cena so the sudden push given to Sting is unexpected.

Sting isn't a bad choice, although the issue of how fit he is does come to mind. His last performance was at Wrestlemania 31 where he faced Rollins' mentor Triple H. Sting lost that one, of course; so could this pursuit against one of Triple H's minions be a continuation of the Vigilante's intent to disrupt the hold of The Authority?

Now, that could be cutting it a bit deep. On why Sting was chosen to step up and most likely challenge Rollins for the WWE title at WWE Night of Champions remains a mystery, although Cena may not be fully cleared to compete just yet.

Remember that questions were abounding after Cena suffered a broken nose and surprisingly, the now former U.S. champion was able to compete at WWE SummerSlam.

With a botched statue unveiling, it seems that the WWE is sticking to Rollins as its champion. If not Cena, remember that it was believed that Sheamus would cash in. It never happened.

Now, it is widely believed that Sting and Rollins are on a collision course at WWE Night of Champions. Unless the WWE folds, the match is likely to happen at the next pay-per-view. But will Sting become champion?

The odds of Sting becoming WWE champion is somewhat hard to visualize, especially at the rate that Sting has been tipped to make appearances. Rollins will likely come out of it with the title in hand, either defeating Sting or winning via disqualification.

If Sting wins, expect it to be a short reign. At a budding age and with exposure limited, it is hard to imagine how Sting could reign as a WWE champion.
