'World of Warcraft' news, rumors: Legacy server back online; Blizzard backing the Nostralius team?

Taking the matter into their own hands, it seems that the "World of Warcraft" players intend to bring back the shut down Legacy server back online. The reason for this is simple: Blizzard has offered no updates about the official Legacy servers during the recently concluded BlizzCon 2016 event.

According to Game Rant, even after a decade's worth of existing, "World of Warcraft" is still one of the games that still dominates the MMORPG realm. In fact, its sixth new expansion — called "Legion" — was received with a generally positive reception among fans, and Blizzard does not seem to be running out of content to release, with the current year already planned out in order to keep its subscribers busy.

However, there are a lot of players who are still clinging to the nostalgia of the so-called vanilla version of the "World of Warcraft," and as such they want to bring back the Legacy servers that feature the 2004 version of the game.

The Legacy servers offer players the chance to play "World of Warcraft" before any of its expansion content or patch updates were applied. Unfortunately, Blizzard has yet to launch an official Legacy server.

What's more is that it has recently shut down the most popular Legacy servers around, Nostralius, due to some legal issues.

Surprisingly, according to Extreme Tech, Blizzard initially invited the team behind the Nostralius server to the Blizzard HQ. The team allegedly talked with the "World of Warcraft" developers about Nostralius, as well as the difficulty of creating Legacy servers and whether or not there will be any way for the project to push on from there.

As such, the Nostralius team is happy to announce that they will be reactivating the project, but this time, with Blizzard backing them up with their approval.

Unfortunately, things are not yet going well, but it is possible that the project could push through in the future.
