"Wentworth" ended its fourth season with the death of one of its main characters, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). It is now speculated that Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) will avenge Bea's death.

It is now believed that Joan "The Freak" Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) will take the top dog spot inside the prison. Fans are also aware that Allie will avenge Bea's death since she is her former love interest inside the prison. It is then also speculated that Joan will only last up until the show's fifth season or even earlier.

There were also initial rumors that "Wentworth" season 5 will not materialize due to the fact the production has yet to start. This was based on the Instagram post of Jenkinson, that she was, in fact, having a romantic vacation in Cancun.

The Australian drama series left the fans in shock with a very nonstandard twist — the protagonist was killed. The circumstance also left them with a lot of questions and speculations. It was even believed early on that Bea was just seriously injured and that she will be back for the next season.

However, the truth has been confirmed when Jenkinson was interviewed by After Ellen. She told the news outlet: "I certainly didn't see it coming, and I don't think anybody did. I think my reaction was very similar to that of the fans when I first found out. I was completely blindsided, and I thought, 'Okay, how does this work? How does a show continue without the central character?'"

Fans were disappointed because of this, but the show's producers have assured its followers that Bea's death is a part of the storyline that shows a glimpse of the cutthroat life inside the institution. The story will simply not progress if her death did not happen.

It is also unlikely that the show will be canceled. Jenkinson assured the show's followers that she will settle the score on Bea's death. It is also unclear if Allie will be the top dog or if it will be Joan.

"Wentworth" season 5 is expected to premiere in 2017, although an exact premiere date is yet to be announced.
