M. Night Shyamalan's "Wayward Pines" recently ended its season 1 finale and a show renewal still needs confirmation.

FOX has not announced any news if the show will see a comeback for season 2 or if it has been cancelled. Shyamalan himself did mention previously that the finale was created not to feature scenes that could continue for another season.

According to a report from Venture Capital Post, "Wayward Pines" season 1 finale garnered 3.9 million audiences, which was considered as a very high rating for a program in summer.

However, the report mentioned that although show ratings were impressive, it won't be enough to guarantee that the show will get a renewal for season 2.

Season 1 finale showed that Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan) woke up in a hospital after some time. He then realized that the town he's in is in a worse condition.

Fashion&Style predicted that if the show will see a second season, the story will most probably focus on the First Generation, who has taken control of the town.

Putting the young ones in charge would bring in something interesting into the story since these Wayward Pines youngsters are even more twisted compared to their parents.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, show executive producer Chad Hodge revealed that the finale episode was not meant to serve as a teaser for season 2. He even added that season 1 was "the end."

While most reports interpreted it as the end of "Wayward Pines," there were reports that Shyamalan is currently negotiating with Blake Crouch, book series author, for a possible renewal.

According to the director, he and Crouch made a promise that if they will move on to a new season, they will have a different approach.

In an interview with Deadline, Shyamalan expressed that he's happy to walk away from the project; but if more episodes will happen, they would be taken with "high level of integrity."
