Ubisoft executives have high expectation for their upcoming game "Watch Dogs 2." They expressed during their recent earnings call that the game could be their number one hit for this year. It might even surpass "Ghost Recon."

The company's CEO, Yves Guillemot, acknowledged that "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" was "well recognized and appreciated by all the press at E3." The new open-world shooter game garnered a lot of positive feedback during the event. The company also expects the game to have a successful release when the first quarter of next year arrives, WCCFTech reported.

However, Ubisoft believes that "Watch Dogs 2" will be the top title for the current fiscal year.

Alain Martinez, the company's CFO, said, "I would say that if you look at the colour of our line-up, very clearly we do believe that Watch Dogs [2] is our number one title for this year."

Martinez also added, "So if we compare to what we delivered last year it's in the high side. And if you look at Ghost Recon I would say it will be closer to a Rainbow Six, more or less, so I would today rank it a bit lower than Watch Dogs but we will see what happens."

The CFO also mentioned that the gameplay, the storyline, and even the characters of the game sequel are more engaging than any other game they have released. Additionally, the "hacker culture" that is more predominant today has also affected the game's outcome, Gamespot added in its report.

"Watch Dogs" sold more than 4 million copies within the first week of release back in 2014. Ubisoft is expecting that the game sequel will sell as many as what the original game did, and it may even surpass the figures.

"Watch dogs 2" will feature a new protagonist named Marcus Holloway, an African-American intelligent hacker, and is set in San Francisco. The game will hit the shelves on Nov. 15 and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Meanwhile, "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will be available by March 7, 2017, also for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
