In the comics, Rick and the gang already trudged some arctic landscapes and snowy terrains in their quest for survival. However, those who hope for cold weather in "The Walking Dead" season 6 are not advised to expect this. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Gimple talked about the possibility of snowfall in Alexandria.
"It's a hard one and one that we struggle with," he admitted.
Gimple recognizes that in Robert Kirkman's work, winter and autumn are represented although intermittently. The showrunner said that they are "figuring it out" although he said it will be no easy feat.
"Nothing could be further from winter than our shooting schedule. That's a challenge, and there are certain things we balance. Just being able to make the show is a challenge," Gimple explained. "These are all little feature films every week, and we push it to the limit. We don't want to use white cornflakes [to double as snow] if we don't have to. It's a challenge, and we're gonna see what we can do."
Meanwhile, in other related news, speculations about Daryl and Carol coupling up have reemerged. While Melissa McBride, who plays the latter, knows that her character and the one played by Norman Reedus share "incredible connection and bond," this doesn't necessarily translate to anything romantic.
Andrew Lincoln, known as Rick in the series, said via TV Line, "It's tough, dating in the apocalypse."
While that's true, that doesn't keep the members of the group from flirting or hooking up even when being chased by hungry walkers and hungrier Wolves. As per Undead Walking, the source material features at least two big relationships. It remains to be seen if the TV series will stick with the comics on that subject.
"The Walking Dead" season 6 premieres Oct. 11.
