'Vikings' season 4 rumors: Season to resume by fall; Is Ragnar still the king of Kattegat?

"Vikings" season 4 is currently on its mid-season break, and fans can't shake the possibility that Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel)may no longer be the king of Kattegat when the series returns in the fall.

Episode 10, "The Last Ship," contains too many things for the fans to digest. Ragnar is now threatened even by his own sons, after learning that he has a son with Queen Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey) in Wessex. Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) has now turned up against him as well. It is speculated that his sons will try to kill Ragnar and get his crown when the show returns, Ecumenical News reported.

Fans are also divided on who will take over the throne. Some believe that it will be Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) that will succeed Ragnar. He was seen by the ruler of Katttegat in a vision leading an attack against France and England. Others are also speculating that the chosen one will be Bjorn, the eldest, who is currently in the middle of his own exploration.

ChatSportsNet mentioned that aside from the shock about her husband's other child, Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) is about to receive another dreadful news. It is speculated that Legartha (Katheryn Winnick) will be back in Kattegat to claim her throne, and the two women in Ragnar's life will be picking up the sword to settle the score.

According to TV Guide, creator Michael Hirst mentioned that it is not yet the end for Legartha. She is an important character for the series, and she hasn't gone yet to Valhalla.

Jokingly, Hirst said, "There's a feminist collective in New York who wrote to me a couple years ago and they said, 'We don't' care how many of the male characters you kill off, but if you do anything to Lagertha, you're in trouble.' So I'm very careful about that warning."

Rollo (Clive Standen), who is currently the Duke of Paris, will not stay this way for long, based on the trailer for episode 11. He was seen fighting hand-in-hand with his niece, Bjork, against the English warriors.

"Vikings'" second half of season 4 is expected to be back on the History Channel on July 6.
