'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege' update: Single player mode prepares gamers for multiplayer missions

 Ubisoft

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" is as good as a multiplayer game as a single player. Developer Ubisoft did not forget about those who sometimes like to pull off assignments by themselves and so the game studio is giving players a total of 11 single player missions.

In a blog post on the official Ubisoft website, animation director Scott Mitchell detailed the game's single player mode, which is officially called Situations. For one, the solo mode is less of a campaign and more of a guide for players to learn how it all works.

With Situations, gamers should be able to slide through the "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" experience seamlessly. Ultimately, it familiarizes gamers with the basics like the mechanics, operators and the maps. Gamers would know what operators like the Point Man, Trapper, Blocker, Support and Breacher are there for.

In every Situation is a mission, which could be as clear-cut as eliminating hostiles or as complicated as giving players complex and dual roles. Nonetheless, they lead to one thing – Terrorist Hunt. Through the experience, gamers should have formed a successful team.

"There are cinematics that give you context as to what's going on. That's when you end up getting communications from Six, where you find out about the White Masks and what's going on there. Here, you can either play alone or with up to four other people," Mitchell detailed.

In a nutshell, the solo mode helps gamers in acquainting themselves in all aspects of "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" so that when they finally go out into the field with a group, they won't have to fumble about and they would know their way around.

As Mitchell said, Ubisoft believes that learning effectively is learning by trial and error. "The Situations will provide you with everything you need to feel confident when you finally take on the multiplayer," he explained.

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" will be out Dec. 1, 2015.
