Tim Tebow news: Former NFL player up for minor league baseball promotion

Former professional American football player Timothy Tebow has found happiness in baseball. Tebow, who plays outfielder for the New York Mets, might be promoted soon.

The 29-year-old ESPN analyst is close to receiving a promotion. If he keeps his pace, he could receive a major league uniform in no time. New York Post reporter Mike Puma shared the news on Twitter. He wrote, "Mets have discussed promoting Tim Tebow within the minors, but will likely wait until midseason. He's hitting .327 over his last 16 games."

Tebow signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to diving into the baseball scene. Chip Kelly got him a backup quarterback position in the team. However, the team decided to cut him loose. Tebow thought of it as his last chance to reenter the NFL. Although it fell through, he took it as an opportunity to pursue another sport that is dear to him — baseball.

Speaking to Philly, Delmarva manager Ryan Minor expressed admiration for Tebow's hardwork in baseball. He stated, "For him to be away from it for that long and be able to step in and be competitive in what he's doing so far, it's just a credit to his ability to make adjustments. I think a lot of that comes from being the kind of football player he was and athlete."

Minor, along with a number of baseball fans, has been impressed with Tebow's performance, especially since the last time he ever played was back in high school. Reports say the increasing number of spectators for the minor league could easily be because of him.

Crowds have been drawn to watch his games. Philly reports that the local sheriff's office had to send more patrols up the bleachers to maintain crowd control and ensure everyone's safety just in case.

More updates on Tebow's promotion should arrive soon.
