George R.R. Martin met up with his fans at the 74th World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon) at the Kansas City Convention Center over the weekend, but the best-selling author remains silent about the release of his highly anticipated novel "The Winds of Winter."

The sixth book from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book saga has been anticipated since the release of its predecessor, "A Dance with Dragons," in 2011. The book's supposed TV adaptation on HBO has long been released after "Game of Thrones" season 6 aired from April to June this year. But Martin has yet to reveal when he will finally release the book.

In an interview with The Star, the 67-year-old author admitted that his writing style is relatively slow when asked about his writing process.

"There's not much I can tell you. It's slow. I'm a slow and painstaking writer — always have been. Sometimes I don't know how the hell I do it. I sit down, and on a good day stories come out. And on a bad day, I struggle and I read my email," the author said.

Meanwhile, speculations claim that the plot of "The Winds of Winter" will involve the possible transformation of Daenerys Targaryen as the beloved queen across the narrow seas to being the mad ruler in Westeros, just like her father Aerys Targaryen.

According to The Christian Times, rumors say that the hunger for power to conquer all the kingdoms of Westeros will prompt her to lose her sanity. Speculations claim that the Mother of Dragons will ask her men to torch an entire city as soon as she arrives in Westeros. She might also agree to Tyrion Lannister's marriage proposal because she believes that he is the best strategist to help her rule the entire Seven Kingdom.
