"The Vampire Diaries" fans are really looking forward to the comeback of Nina Dobrev's character Elena. However, speculations are rife that it will be Katherine that will be back on the series.

Episode 4 that aired last week has started to reveal what Hell is in the series, and it does not only contain the sirens' victims but others as well. It also sets the stage for future episodes of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder characters' climactic scenes. Fans also witness how the sirens eliminated the other characters. While Damon Salvatore (Somerhalder) is still under the spell of Sybil (Nathalie Kelly), her sister Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) eradicated Georgie (Allison Scagliotti). The course of the action also led to the exit of Alaric's (Matthew Davis) assistant, TV Guide reported.

Going further, fans are also seeing complications with such a move. If Katherine will return, Elena's ancestors could take the opportunity to put an end to Damon Salvatore. They can even help him as well. On a separate report, the series could also end with Elena and Damon finding a cure and able to live as humans once again.

Previously, Caroline Dries, the executive producer, never really gave out details on what happened to Katherine's soul or where she was taken. Although, she mentioned that she is not in a good place either.

Meanwhile, "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 5, titled "Coming Home Was a Mistake," will put a test on the relationship between the Salvatore brothers. Damon is said to be out of control, and Stefan (Paul Wesley) could no longer take his brother's destructive behavior. Stefan is said to take a very important decision that could change their relationship forever, according to the synopsis.

The synopsis also states that: "Bonnie (Kat Graham) gets advice from Caroline (Candice King) on how to break through to Enzo (Michael Malarkey), while Matt (Zach Roerig) attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he's received. Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them"

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW
