'The Sims 4: Get Together' release date and concept art - what to expect

"The Sims 4: Get Together" EA, Maxis

When a new "The Sims 4" expansion was announced in August, people were excited that new features will come to the hit simulation game, especially with the initial announcement that it would be released in November.

However, Electronic Arts announced earlier this month that the "Get Together" expansion's release date has been pushed to December.

The reason for the delay was that the developers need more time to work on the expansion game to make for a great gaming experience.

"Your enthusiasm and feedback inspired us to work even harder to make sure that this pack is everything it could be. So we've decided to take a little more time to work on the expansion pack," senior game producer Lyndsay Pearson wrote in her blog post.

The upcoming expansion introduces the world of the European-inspired Windenburg, where players can put up their own Clubs for other Sims to get together.

In an Oct. 14 blog post, the creative minds behind "The Sims 4" gave away the story of how the fictional European world was accomplished and what Sims fanatics should expect once the game is released.

The developers also talked about how Windenburg was made to show the different cultures of Europe but still have the capacity to stand as a unique concept.

The developers may have shared the different concepts, but it was noted that not all of them will appear in the final game.

Concept artists looked into several ideas just to arrive at how the new world should appear like and it definitely will be a completely different environment for all Sims players.

The creative geniuses went on to experiment with various residential structures and finally it was decided that the game should have a "Tudor Modern" style, which was described in the blog post as "a mix of contemporary construction and the kind of buildings built during the 16th century in England.

The sketches that were posted in the blog were said to be "pretty close" to the ones that will actually be used in the game.

That means that players should expect to see a pier in the Business District, an "Old Town," and residential islands found in the middle of the Windenburg Lake.

"The Sims 4: Get Together" will be released in North American territories on Dec. 8. A worldwide release will follow later in that week.
