'The Sims 4 : City Living' DLC release date: how to live in apartments

Game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has officially unveiled the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming expansion pack for "The Sims 4." The 'City Living" DLC will provide content that will allow the Sims to experience apartment living. The new content will be available for download on Nov. 1.

The official trailer will feature the new hustling and bustling city of a coastal town named San Myshuno, where the Sims can start a new life, which also means that they need an apartment. Everybody will start with ordinary dwelling units, and as they climb their respective career ladders (Politician, Critic, and Social Media), they can then afford to move up to a better unit, which is the penthouse in this case.

Minimal renovations can be performed on the most basic apartment units. Since one is only renting, outside walls, windows, or the front door cannot be moved. Interior walls and doors are the only ones that can be changed, moved, or deleted, as one of the members of the "The Sims" team replied to a question on Twitter.

On the other hand, penthouse units will have a different setup. Based on the video, players will have full control in terms of renovation. They could tear down the old unit and replace it with a totally different one that they prefer, and the limit that their personal Simoleons (money) would allow them.

In terms of loading screens, players will experience one if they decide to visit a neighboring apartment, just like the other games, said another member of the team, but not during elevator rides or when a Sim decides to take part in the open street event or festival in the city.

"Take your Sims to the city and explore everything it has to offer, from bustling action outside to unique situations that come only with apartment living. Fulfill your Sims' dreams in the diverse city of San Myshuno, and discover new neighborhoods and festivals.  Experience the charm and challenges that come with your Sims' first apartment, then work your way up the penthouse of your Sims' dreams," says the official description of the DLC.

The "City Living" expansion pack will be released on Nov. 1 for the Windows PC and Mac.
