HBO's "The Leftovers" will have its third and final season in 2017. It is speculated that the series will make a time jump and explore the time before the apocalypse.

The series will have its last chance to awe its followers, and showrunner Damon Lindelof promised to do just that. In a past interview with Indie Wire, Lindelof said he wants all the characters to have the ending that they deserve.

Questions may be left unanswered, but "we just need to move the characters toward some level of internal peace, if that's the ultimate goal for them," the executive producer said.

Currently, the cast and crew are busy filming in Australia, where Carry Coon, who plays Nora Durst, updated fans on Twitter that they are in the final stages of filming. She posted, "Been off the grid in Cape Tribulation. Back @TheLeftovers for the big finish... "

A fan could not help but notice the location mentioned by Coon, Tribulation because there is a biblical period known as "The Great Tribulation." It is the period between the "Rapture" and "Armageddon." It was then suggested that the upcoming season might tread the years before the apocalypse. However, everyone involved in the show has remained mum on the significance of the area to the season finale.

There will also be new faces in the third season of "The Leftovers." Based on the list, the show's followers were intrigued by two upcoming characters to be played by Tristan Riggs and Charlotte Delaney. They will be Mary's daughter and son, aged 10 and 7, Parent Herald reported.

Meanwhile, majority of the cast will be back, although there is also no word on who will end up on the continent Down Under, aside from Kevin Garvey (Justine Theroux ) or the older Kevin (Scott Glenn).

"The Leftovers" season 3 will go back on air in spring 2017 on HBO and will have eight episodes.
