President Jeffrey Michener (Mark Moses) is gone, and the country will be dealing with the aftermath of its most recent tragedy. This won't stop Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) from continuing his investigation into the virus mutation.
Fans were still in shock after witnessing Pres. Michener take his own life, because of the guilt over being responsible for the loss of many American lives, which proved to be too much for him. He blamed himself for the spread of virus in St. Louis, where he brought his son back even though he was already infected with the virus, which quickly spread.
"America copes with tragedy. Meanwhile, Chandler probes a potential virus mutation," is the synopsis for the upcoming episode, according to Spoiler TV.
Now, Tom Chandler and the rest of the crew of Nathan James will have more challenges, as they continue and attempt to save the world. The virus mutation makes it all harder this time, for they are not aware if they will be safe this time around.
The cast and crew of the show are very good at hiding secrets. Nobody has a clue yet as to what could possibly happen in the next episode. However, in a previous interview with showrunner Hank Steinberg by Buddy TV, he mentioned that season 3 is all about geo-political issues, and nobody is really safe yet.
Steinberg said, "In Season 3, the storyline is split between the action in Asia and the Presidency in the new White House in St. Louis. ... The drama is between geo-political issues of how to hold the country together and the question of how many resources should we give to saving the rest of the world when America is stretched very thin and trying to repair itself."
He added, "It's a dangerous world out there. The way we keep the audience on their toes, we have to lose people along the way to feel like every time they go out there, you don't know what could happen. We've had to lose some of our favorite characters and favorite actors in the process, but it's what keeps the show appealing and feeling real."
"The Last Ship" season 3 episode 8 airs on July 31, 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT.
