"The Last Man on Earth" took a week-long break, but will soon be back on FOX for a new episode.

This Sunday, the show will bring a holiday special titled "Secret Santa," in which Carol (Kristen Schaal) will restore the spirit of Christmas through a secret mission.

When the deadly virus wiped out almost the entire human race, people lost interest in life and even in traditions and holidays, especially Christmas. But Carol, being the quirky character that she is, would not allow the Christmas spirit to fade away and is determined to bring it back.

But how is she going to achieve that? When the world came to an end, people stopped believing in Christmas, but with Carol's plan in conducting a Secret Santa mission, she just might succeed in bringing the holiday cheer back to the group.

The group is expected to appear a bit uninterested about the holiday season, but they would want to please Carol, so they need to play along, Latin Post noted.

As a result, the team will participate in the game and will start by thinking of getting a present to give to another person. In the episode 9 promo shown below, Carol is seen shrieking in excitement as she received a chair from Oprah's studio audience given by Erica (Cleopatra Coleman). Erica also asks Carol to look under the chair to find a surprise, which should be revealed in the next episode.

Meanwhile, at the end of season 1 finale, it was revealed that main character Phil (Will Forte) has a brother, Mike (Jason Sudeikis), who's on the International Space Station all along searching for other survivors. Since this big reveal, fans have been wondering how long Sudeikis' character will be spending time on his mission.

Fortunately, the answer just might come in the Christmas special this Sunday, as revealed by Entertainment Weekly.

According to the outlet's spoiler report, fans will know the answer when the Christmas-themed episode airs and it will also feature "a pretty shocking declaration of love that probably won't go over very well."

It's going to be an exciting episode when "The Last Man on Earth" returns to FOX this Sunday, Dec. 6, at 9:30 p.m. EST.
