'The Incredibles 2' release date in 2016?

In a report back in April, it was mentioned that "The Incredibles 2" could likely come out either in 2017 or 2018, seeing Pixar has reserved some release dates for the said years. The belief is that one could be the film starring the superhero family and the other perhaps "Cars 3."

The problem is, there was no word on which would come first between the two animated films. Now, it seems that some light has been shed and that the first to come out will be "The Incredibles 2."

But wait, it gets better. It seems that if all goes well, "The Incredibles 2" may come out earlier than the alleged release dates, possibly 2016. Now, isn't that fast-tracking things a bit?

Well, considering that the word about the earlier than expected release date comes no less from director Brad Bird, then perhaps it would be high time for Incredibles fans to be excited. It has been 11 years since we last saw Mr. Incredible and his superpowered family; the earlier it comes out, the better.

According to Bird, 75% of the script is done so there could be ample time to see it being released next year.

So, will the earlier rumored plot which would see Jack-Jack being lured to a mystery evil mind happen? Well, it could be true. But as Bird puts it, he and his small team are exploring certain angles from the first installment, something which could pretty much be used for the sequel.

However, the challenge comes in creating a unique connection between the two films. On whether he was able to do so or not seems to be on the positive light, particularly since the script seems to be more than three fourths done.

"I had a lot of ideas for the original 'Incredibles' that I didn't get a chance to use, that I like," Bird previously mentioned via Collider some months back. "I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit, and there wasn't enough time in 'Incredibles.' There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie," he added.
