Video game developer Tango Networks managed to resurrect an old-school horror with the release of the third-person survival horror game "The Evil Within 2," which was released by Bethesda for PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One on Oct. 13 — a Friday the 13th date. The game received mixed reviews.

"The Evil Within 2" received a 9 out of 10 rating from Steam and 80% or 8 out of 10 from IGN. The plot of the game revolves around Detective Sebastian Castellanos' mission to save his daughter, Lily. The third-person survival horror game features new weapons, skills, and horrifying entities. Castellanos takes on the nightmare realm called the STEM in the game.

One of the biggest feedback to standout is the psychological aura of the game and its storyline. Tango Networks did an amazing job in filling the game with disturbing jump scares and story twists. The game has three difficulty levels: Casual, Survival or Nightmare. Players are also looking forward to the New Game Plus feature wherein they can unlock new gear and outfits for Castellasnos after finishing the game.

There are also negative comments from other critics saying the sequel is not that far from the previous one. There are those who say that the game is too reminiscent of the first installment. GamesRadar, for one, criticized the lack of enemy variety and rehashed game features from the first one. Some experts and gamers might say the game is somehow similar to other survival games including "The Last of Us." The similarities between the two games is the element of stealth and decision-making on whether to attach the enemies head-on or tip-toe one's way to safety. There is also the usual Sebastian takedown and strategic ammunition saving.

Bethesda prioritized the settings of the game for PC with better specs and minimal issues compared to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The starting price rate of the game in the United States is $60 from various retailers including Bethesda. There are still other gaming companies reviewing the entire game, but the reviews are so far positive and outweigh the negative ones.
