'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' Special Edition remaster news, updates: Game's audio problems to be addressed soon by Bethesda

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition Bethesda Softworks

A lot of fans have been complaining about the audio quality problems found in the special edition of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." After all, gamers were able to notice a slight difference in the sound compared to the title's original released version.

According to Game Rant, the improved visuals of "Skyrim: Special Edition" did not prevent fans from hearing a keen difference in the remaster's audio quality compared to the original game released back in 2011. Those who might have been playing the game on the PC and the Xbox One may have noticed the difference as well.

As soon as the fans started questioning the quality of the game's audio and took to Reddit to share their concerns, Bethesda responded that the fix will be released soon. A Reddit user named gstaff — who was known to speak for Bethesda on the website — posted that the company is testing a fix and that they hope that the sound will be much better by next week.

The problem was specifically first posted by LasurArkinshade on Reddit, as reported by the Tech Times. LasurArkinshade said that the audio seemed to be muddier and less crisp. He even went ahead and tried compared it with the original game using a sound bite by laying the tracks beside each other to determine if there is a significant drop in quality.  After digging through the samples for both editions' sound libraries, the Reddit user discovered the root of the seemingly inferior audio quality of the special edition.

Basically, the studio was in a bit of a hurry and went overboard when it comes to compressing the sound files for the re-release. The original game did not have uncompressed .wav sound files which made the sound quality optimal.

Regardless, Bethesda will soon release the fix for the audio issues, much to the fans' delight.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
