The Elder Scrolls Online release date sales news update: New name, new ranking in UK chart

After Bethesda removed subscription fees from The Elder Scrolls Online in March, it was given a new name "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited", which debuted on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One two weeks ago.

The console launch may have come with various flaws, but it didn't stop the game from performing well in the charts.

In particular, since the launch on June 9, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has gained a good ranking in the UK game chart.

During its first week, the game sold over 100,000 copies and stole the number one spot from The Witcher 3.

PlaystationLifestyle.net reports that ESOTU is the third game this year to have sold over 100,000 copies in its debut week, surpassing Battlefield Hardline, but placing only second to The Witcher 3, which holds the biggest title so far for 2015.

However, the ESOTU's success in the charts did not last for long, and was overthrown by the release of the game for top-grossing movie Jurassic World.

Metro reported that in the week ending June 20, ESOTU's spot had been taken already. The latest sales rankings in the UK are in and LEGO Jurassic World has taken over the number one spot, overthrowing ESOTU, according to a report from Gamingbolt.

Sources indicate that LEGO Jurassic World has seen a 3% increase in sales, and the top-grossing dinosaur film featuring Chris Pratt and his Raptor Squad may have something to do with it.

On the other hand, ESOTU has seen a massive drop of 71% in its sales, taking the number two spot and still topping The Witcher 3.

Grand Theft Auto V takes the fourth place, followed by FIFA 15, PayDay 2, COD: Advanced Warfare, Splatoon, Destiny and Minecraft Xbox.

Batman: Arkham Knight will debut this week and is expected to stir some changes in the UK game sales rankings, and will probably overthrow LEGO Jurassic World.
