'The Bold and the Beautiful' spoilers: Plot recap - A clause in Rick's Contract could cost him his position

Thursday on "The Bold and the Beautiful," Brooke advises Rick to leave Maya alone. Rick ignores her and tries to call Maya again but she's not picking up. Brooke tells him off and blames Maya. She asks him about having children, and Rick tells her that he thinks they can adopt. Brooke thinks that he needs to reevaluate the whole situation with Maya before it's too late, and she thinks that Maya only told him the truth because she made her do so.

At Forrester Creations, Eric tells Ridge that Rick isn't coming in today. Ridge smirks and sarcastically notes how much of a fearless leader Rick is. Eric berates him for kicking Rick when he's down, but Ridge says that he only told Rick the truth — that he is unstable, and that he should be the one to run the company and not him. Eric says that he must be more sympathetic to Rick as he's suffering from the all the media attention that the company now has, thanks to Bill divulging Maya's secret to the press. Eric says that Maya has resigned. Ridge thinks that now would be a good time for Rick to take a break and for Eric to hand over the reins to him.

Meanwhile, Maya stares at her phone as she ignores Rick's calls. Nicole arrives and tells her that she's sorry for telling Wyatt about her secret — she shouldn't have trusted him. Maya says that resigning from Forrester Creations is the right thing to do and says that things are over between her and Rick. Nicole tells her that she doesn't have to, but Maya says that she doesn't want Rick to get hurt anymore because of her.

Here's what to expect on "The Bold and the Beautiful" on Friday, May 22:

Caroline comes home and reveals why she was gone; Wyatt suffers the consequences of his deceit; Todd McKee returns as Jack Maclaine; Rick promises to protect Forrester against its critics; Bill and Justin celebrate Spencer Publication's triumph over Forrester Creations; and Eric tells Rick that a clause in his contract could cost him the position in the company.

"The Bold and the Beautiful" airs from Mondays to Fridays at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
