After its explosive backdoor pilot in "The Blacklist" season 4, NBC announced that they have greenlit the show's spin-off series called "The Blacklist: Redemption."

The new spin-off will star Famke Janssen as the mysterious woman named Susan "Scottie" Hargrave, and Ryan Eggold is set to reprise his role as Tom Keen from the original series.

According to Deadline, "The Blacklist: Redemption" will center on Tom's new tasks with the private military organization called the Grey Matters, which is a covert mercenary organization that focuses on the jobs that any government refuses to deal with. The said organization is headed by Scottie.

Tom and Scottie first met each other in the episode titled "Susan Hargrave," where he and Red discovered that Scottie was commissioned by a person named Alexander Kirk to kill Liz. Tom had to work with Scottie's organization for a bank heist in order to run after the one who caused Liz's death.

But despite her indirect involvement with Liz's death, Tom still planned to kill Scottie for revenge. However, Red stopped him, saying that she has "the answers [he's] been looking for [his] entire life will die with her."

Spoilers also claim that Tom and Scottie's relationship is similar to his wife Liz Keen's (Megan Boone) connection with Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader), which is the core plot of the original "The Blacklist" series.

Aside from Janssen and Eggold, the spin-off series will also feature Edi Gathegi as the senior Cabal Operative Matias Solomon and Tawny Cypress as Scottie's mercenary Nez Rowan.

While "The Blacklist" season 4 is expected to return to NBC sometime in September, the network has yet to announce the official premiere date of the spin-off at the moment. However, Collider claimed that the new series could possibly air sometime in early 2017.

Other details about "The Blacklist: Redemption" are expected to be announced soon.
