Fans can expect the truth to come out in the fourth season of "The Blacklist," according to series creator Jon Bokenkamp.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Bokenkamp revealed that the characters will have a lot of difficulty moving forward in season 4 after all the revelations at the end of season 3.

"There are going to be a lot of really great stories in pushing forward — and we'll also see some incredible Blacklisters who are going to be as strange and unique and dangerous as any we have done," he added.

Bokenkamp also revealed that the viewers will finally get to find out more about Red in the upcoming season. According to the series creator, there are a lot of things to look forward to about Red's real persona.

"He's this sort of chameleon who's always shifting and changing," he said. "We're getting closer and closer to understanding him, and the Cape May episode was a good example of that. But he's still somewhat of an enigma to us — and that is part of what makes the show fun."

The series creator also revealed that Ulrich Thomsen's character, Alexander Kirk, will be a vital part of "The Blacklist" season 4. At the end season 3, it was revealed that Alexander Kirk is Liz's (Megan Boone) real father. But it seems like Liz remains unsure if the mystery man was telling the truth, based on the promo trailer for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Liz's mother Katarina Rostova will return in the series after it was announced that actress Lotte Verbeek will reprise her role in season 4. Could this shed more light on Liz's real identity and the truth about her father?

"The Blacklist" season 4 premieres on NBC on Sept. 22.
