'The Affair' season 2: 4 perspectives, 4 different stories

"The Affair" season 2 will take viewers not only inside Noah and Alison's heads but also inside the minds of the people they cheated on – Helen and Cole. The sophomore run of the series will span across a dozen installments. The previous season had 10.

This should give room for plenty of stories being told from four perspectives and should also be enough to enmesh all these together. As per Yahoo, though Alison and Noah chose to be together, they won't easily escape the past and their exes will still be in their lives one way or another.

While fans already know that Cole was quite a mess in the previous season, "The Affair" season 2 will show Cole as a much more broken man, especially now that his perspective of things will also be explored in the new season.

"You can now see that this guy, who projects outwardly this confidence and strength, and all of those things that we saw last year, is actually much more insecure about his place in the world, who he is, and what he wants to be doing with himself," Joshua Jackson, the character's essayer, told Collider.

Meanwhile, "The Affair" season 2 will see Noah and Helen get a divorce with the help of a mediator, who will be played by Jeremy Shamos. Their respective viewpoints will play out here and will show how different the two think.

Helen thinks that in the meeting she behaved appropriately. She showed her would-be ex-husband respect. Noah, meanwhile, understood what Helen did in the meeting to be a mock, adding that a book contract is too petty to provide for their kids.

"The Affair" season 2 will show two sides of the story, which will double the drama and the conflict for sure. Also, it allows the show to take full advantage of what it is known for – perspectives.

"The Affair" season 2 premieres today, Oct. 4 on SHOWTIME at 10 p.m. ET. Alternatively, watch it online via live stream on SHOWTIME ANYTIME.
