Is "Sweet Valley High" about to get a reboot?

The stars of the '90s hit series, Brittany and Cynthia Daniel, made a rare red carpet appearance together on Wednesday, June 24, at the premiere of "Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser." Cynthia was there to support her sister Brittany, who reprises her role from the original film as Joe's love interest Brandy.

The twins' appearance immediately sparked rumors of a "Sweet Valley High" reboot, and Brittany revealed that they are about to have a talk with series' author Francine Pascal.

"We have a conversation with Francine Pascal in the next couple of weeks, so yeah, we're definitely interested in doing a reboot," Brittany told Entertainment Weekly.

Pascal is the creator of the novel franchise that the TV show was based on, and the series centers on identical twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. Most recently, Pascal published 2011's "Sweet Valley Confidential," which takes place when Jessica and Elizabeth are in their 30s, and EW reports that a reboot could potentially see the Wakefield girls as adults.

"Sweet Valley High" originally premiered in 1994 and ran until 1998 for four seasons. The series was syndicated on Fox stations for the first three seasons, with the fourth season airing at the now defunct UPN network.

Cynthia left the business after the show was cancelled but returned for one episode on "That 80's Show" in 2002. Since "Sweet Valley High" ended, she has not made many public appearances, choosing instead to step behind the camera as a photographer.

Meanwhile, Brittany continued to act after the series was done. Aside from "Joe Dirt," she also starred as Jaime King's fraternal twin in "White Chicks." She has also appeared on TV shows such as "Dawson's Creek," "That 80's Show," "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and "The Game."

In March 2014, Brittany revealed that she had stage IV non-Hodgkins lymphoma, but E! News reports that she is now cancer-free.

Cynthia told E! News that she's surprised that people still remember the show.

"It's amazing how many people still come up to us about it," she said.
