Surface Pro 4 vs iPad Plus: The duel of the giants

Surface Pro 3 Microsoft

It seems like fall will be one explosive season for gadget enthusiasts as there are widespread rumors that two leading makers of tablet devices will go head to head in presenting their latest large-screen tablets.

Microsoft is said to be unveiling its Windows 10 showcase device, the Surface Pro 4. On the other hand, Apple will reportedly push their long-rumored iPad Plus that will employ the new Force Touch technology, as reported by 9to5Mac.

According to rumor mills, the iPad Plus will have a huge 12.9-inch display with a crisp resolution rated at 2732 x 2048 pixels, which is better than what the Surface Pro 4 is said to have, a lower resolution of around 2160 x 1440 pixels. The screens of these devices are about the same size.

iPad Air 2 Apple

Both of these large tablets will reportedly use the latest technology their manufacturers are currently adopting for all their flagship products. There is a big possibility that the iPad Plus will run Apple's iOS 9, its latest mobile OS that boasts proactivity, allowing the device to learn and act on user habits. The result could be a more intelligent iPad Plus. In addition, iOS 9 also has deeper search capabilities and split screen multitasking.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, is likely to employ the latest Windows 10 OS. With Windows 10, users can open multiple profiles, make the tablet work like a PC and vice versa via Continuum, and have a more efficient and current browser, the new Microsoft Edge.

When it comes to hardware, the divide between the two devices widen. According to a report by Venture Capital Post, the Surface Pro 4 is rumored to have a 16 GB RAM, 1 TB internal storage, and a new Skylake processor. The iPad Plus is said to have a 2 GB memory and an A8X chip.

All these are mere rumors and speculations. Microsoft and Apple are expected to make their respective announcements regarding the next tablet devices in their lineups this fall.
