The CW's "Supergirl" is heading toward the finale of its second season. It has been confirmed that the show is returning for another adventure-filled third season, but the question is: Who is going to be the next adversary?

This season, Kara's (Melissa Benoist) biggest problem seems to be Queen Rhea (Teri Hatcher), the villainous mother of her boyfriend, Mon-El (Chris Wood). Rhea traveled across the galaxy to be reunited with her son, but when he chose to stay on Earth with Kara, this made her furious and hell-bent on getting revenge.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently spoke with Comic Book Resources and was asked what is coming before the current season ends, seeing as Rhea had killed her husband for siding with their son Mon-El, and even saying that she is not finished with the planet Earth.

"I don't want to give too much away because it's part of the surprise coming in the next few episodes. Her plans definitely include Kara, Mon-El and Lena. She has a master plan. She's very bright, very dangerous and she's very ruthless," he told the publication.

Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) has gone through several losses and she is currently at a vulnerable state, which makes her an easy target for the enemy. Rhea is said to come in and become sort of a mother figure to Lena, who has lost most of her family, and might use this to manipulate her.

Kreisberg also teased that the season 2 finale is going to let the viewers get a sneak peek at who is going to be Kara's new foe next season.

"We're so proud of Teri Hatcher, and so amazed she's on our show and killing it as Rhea. There is a feature film quality finale, with huge guest stars, stunts and visual effects. We will get a glimpse of the Season 3 villain in the finale, which we're also excited about."

Will Rhea be successful at influencing Lena and turning her into a villain? Will it be a reinvented version of a classic foe? Or will the show and the viewers be seeing a completely new face?

The "Supergirl" season 2 finale airs Monday, May 22, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
