 CBS

Another DC Comics character will join Melissa Benoist's Kara Danvers in the sophomore season of "Supergirl" when it premieres on The CW in October.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that "Cougar Town" alum Ian Gomez was cast to appear as the recurring character named Snapper Carr in the upcoming season of "Supergirl."

According to the character description, Calista Flockhart's character Cat Grant hired the sharp-witted, impulsive Snapper Carr to become CatCo Magazine's editor-in-chief. He will reportedly push all the CatCo reporter to work harder to get the best stories for the magazine.

"He's a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds barred approach pushes Kara (Melissa Benoist) in unexpected ways," the description said. This means that Kara will meet Cat's male version when Snapper starts working for the company in season 5.

Gomez also appeared in various TV series such as "Felicity," "Jake in Progress," and "Rita Rocks."

Meanwhile, actor Tyler Hoechlin from MTV's "Teen Wolf" series has been tapped to portray the role of Kara's cousin Clark Kent/Superman next season.

In an interview with Collider, Hoechlin revealed that he was really flattered to be considered to play the role of the iconic superhero.

"It's really exciting, I'm really looking forward to be putting our own spin on it, seeing where this character fits into this storyline, and this version of Superman," the actor said. "Like I said, I take it with great respect for the character and hat it means to people so I'm excited to get to work on it and see what comes out of it."

He also told Just Jared that he was not allowed to reveal much about his role, but he is really excited to portray the character in a clean slate.

"Supergirl" season 2 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 10, on The CW.
