Fans are agitated over the rumors of a possible cancellation of Cartoon Network's animated series, "Steven Universe." Looks like this isn't the first time that the show has been on the rocks, much to the viewers' anxiety over what would happen to the show.
A report from iTech Post says that one possible reason for speculating it may be the end is because no episode comes after episode 9, dubbed "Three Gems and a Baby." Not knowing if there is something in store for the series after the announced episode is indeed troubling for many fans of the show.
While this is worrisome, another reason why people fear for the worst is the length of time before the next episode airs. According to TV Listings, "Three Gems and a Baby" will be airing on Dec. 1, 2016, which is an awfully long time to wait. Whether it is because the makers need time to perfect the next episode or if they are unsure of its fate, nobody knows.
Although things may look bleak, some fans still try to be as optimistic as possible. If one of the factors troubling people's minds is the length of the wait, they should into consideration the wait time between episode 7 and 8, which was roughly a month. Episode 9 will be aired in two weeks, which is a much better outlook.
As with how the show fared from one episode to another, IMDb may have a hand in it, which could cause both panic and relief. Episode 6 had an 8.8 out of 10 rating, while episode 7 had a dismal 6.7. It is important to note, though, that the latest episode dubbed "Gem Harvest" scored 8.3, which could give a sigh of comfort.
Episode 9's synopsis reads, "Greg tells Steven about their first winter together." This could simply be a backstory for the father-and-son tandem, thus viewers can expect a younger version of the two. As Greg and Steven take a trip down memory lane, there is a possibility of seeing cameos from Rose Quartz, Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet.
No statement has been released by both creators and Cartoon Network about the matter, so all that's left to do is wait.
"Steven Universe" season 4 episode 9, "Three Gems and a Baby," airs on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Cartoon Network.
