"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will not feature a new trailer at Disney's D23 event happening this weekend, director J.J. Abrams confirmed. During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, the helmer crushed the hopes of those expecting to get a preview of the highly-anticipated film during the Anaheim event.

"It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise," Abrams told the entertainment portal. But he also had good news to pass on to fans who he knows are aching to see and know more about the film, saying, "In the fall, there'll be a trailer."

While there's still a couple of months before this "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" promo shows up, Abrams guaranteed that their D23 visit will sate fanatics' thirst for anything about the movie for the time being. He also shed light on their decision to skip a trailer reveal during the convention.

"We're thrilled to go to D23 and meet the fans, but it's a tricky thing to try and rush [footage] for a convention or preexisting event that would, of course, be fun to show something at," the director explained.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit cinemas on Dec. 18 this year. Abrams said that at the moment, he is "still editing and we're working on refining the cut."

Even at this stage, where a final product is relatively far from fully coming together, he confessed that "it's incredibly fun to see the movie come together. You realize certain things that you don't need, certain things you can pull out."

On Aug. 9, a Korean trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was released. The clip does not exceed a full minute run but it gives a comprehensive look at the evil organization known as The First Order, who are known as the heir to the Galactic Empire in the original material.
