'Star Wars: Battlefront - Outer Rim' DLC release date rumors: Another March update before paid DLC is launched

Season Pass owners of "Star Wars: Battlefront" are highly anticipating the "Outer Rim" DLC, due to be released this month. "Outer Rim" is the first of four DLC packs scheduled for the game, but players should expect one more game update before Electronic Arts begins to roll out the DLC.

One of the privileges of Season Pass owners is access to DLC two full weeks in advance; thus, other players who purchase the stand-alone DLC will be able to play it by next month.

WCCFTech previously reported that an anonymous forum user talked about details of the upcoming DLC packs of "Star Wars: Battlefront." "Outer Rim," according to the tipster, will be released by March 12. "Bespin," the second expansion, will be available by July 17 and will take place in the Cloud City of Bespin, with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian as the new heroes. Another one reportedly titled "Death Star" has a Nov. 12 release date and is a space battle reenactment of the famous scene in the movie. The source only mentioned three DLC packs instead of four, however, and the original post has already been taken down from the board.

The "Star Wars: Battlefront - Outer Rim" DLC will feature four new maps: two maps in the planet Sullust, among the factories; and another two maps in Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker's beloved planet, but the exact playing area will be the dark and dangerous throne room of Jabba the Hutt. Both planets are located in the Outer Rim.

Two additional playable characters will also come with the DLC, namely Greedo and Nien Nunb, and two armaments, the Relby V-10 rifle and the DT-12 blaster pistol. There are also accessories included, namely the Scatter Gun and the Dioxis Grenade, and there are the Adrenaline Stim Star Cards.

A new game mode, dubbed Extraction, will also be coming in with the expansion pack, and as developers EA and DICE describe it, "Rebel forces have entered some of the most dangerous places in the Outer Rim in order to extract a valuable shipment of resources. Now they must bring the shipment to their transport ship before time runs out. The Empire has arrived to stop them from reaching the extraction point."
