'Star Wars: Battlefront' DLC release date, news: 'Rogue One: Scarif' expansion pack to roll out next month

"Star Wars Battlefront" recently celebrated its first year anniversary by announcing the fourth and final expansion pack for the game. The "Rogue One: Scarif" DLC will arrive on Dec. 6, and it is centered on the "Rogue One" movie.

"We're happy to finally announce new details on 'Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: Scarif,' which arrives for all Season Pass owners on December 6. The fourth and final digital expansion pack gives you access to new content inspired by the upcoming film 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,' arriving in theaters on December 16," the announcement said.

The upcoming expansion pack will bring in four new maps and will include the sandy beach of Scarif, which is a tropical planet that is home to the Imperial forces. This same area was featured in the movie's trailer with several AT-ACT trudging through the shore.

Similar to the previous expansion pack, the upcoming one will also bring in two new playable characters, Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic. In the movie, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is the female soldier and former criminal who fought for the Rebel Alliance. Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is the Lieutenant Commander responsible for the security of the Death Star project.

The studio also announced that a "Rogue One: X-Wing" VR mission will also arrive for the PlayStation VR on the same date. This will allow the game fans to experience the X-Wing cockpit in an immersive way to show off their combat and flying skills.

"Star Wars" fans who have missed the opportunity to grab the game and its previous expansion pack will be able to do so one the "Star Wars: Battlefront Ultimate Edition" is released. The special edition will also be released on the same date and will all the expansion pack the game has received. The virtual reality mission is also included.

"Star Wars Battlefront – Rogue One: Scarif" DLC will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC platform starting Dec. 6.
