Game developer Cloud Imperium Games has released a game trailer for their upcoming "Star Citizen" that showed two new high-tech ships. However, the studio has yet to announce the game's arrival date, but fans are speculating that it will be released next year.
The game trailer features the two of the Origin space vessels, the 350i and the 85x. The two-minute video is presented similar to "Top Gear's" style of presentation. The host is touted as the Jeremy Clarkson of the fictional in-game ship manufacturer, and the two new ships are like the sports car that are presented in the show.
"Star Citizen" is a first-person space simulation combat game. There is a single and multiplayer mode for the game. It is designed to work on Windows and Linux PCs, as well as on all major VR headsets.
Another interesting fact about the game is its director, the legendary Chris Roberts, who was responsible for bringing "Wing Commander" and "Strike Commander" back in the 90's. It is also crowdfunded, and $100 million was raised for its development. It was rumored to come out earlier this year, but since the year is almost over, it is then speculated to arrive next year. Although, Cloud Imperium Games has not mentioned any release date so far.
Meanwhile, on a recent post, via the Roberts Space Industries website, the studio put up various schedules that will happen to the game. It showed the target release date for Alpha 2.6 is on Dec. 8, and Roberts will soon post the upcoming schedule on a weekly basis.
Roberts also mentioned that they are planning to release the next Alpha version of the game to a larger audience. They will need to edit or remove some information so that it could be more comprehensive to those who are not technically inclined. More details will be announced with regards to these plans.
"These are the very same schedules we update daily and are circulated internally on our intra-studio hand-offs with a few exceptions: the individual developer names assigned to the tasks will be omitted (for obvious reasons), we'll remove the JIRA details and we'll modify the technical wording to make it readable for a wider audience, but otherwise, when something changes, slips or is completed, you will know," the game director said.
"Star Citizen" is speculated to arrive next year for the Windows and Linux PCs.
