The crowdfunding efforts for the upcoming personal computer (PC) game "Star Citize" have finally paid off as the game, which initially targeted only $500,000, has garnered more than $93.8 million in funds and now has over one million supporters as of Oct. 27.
In celebration of the new milestone, the game will be available unlocked to all supporters who contributed to the funding.
The previous offer of Alpha Access and a $5-module passes have been taken away. A statement from Roberts Space Industries confirmed that there will be no additional payment required in order to get the modules.
Those who have previously purchased the Alpha Access package will be rewarded with 10,000 United Earth Credits (UEC) and those who already own Arena Commander passes will be reimbursed with 5,000 UEC.
According to Ars Technica, game developer and "Star Citizen" director Chris Roberts and the entire team behind the project are working on Alpha 2.0, a new feature that offers 38 playable missions and allows players to go through a space map, just to give players a great experience in the "Star Citizen" universe.
"Star Citizen" is waiting to be released but the backers have been given an early taste of the simulation game through the modules, which include flying exploration.
Once the game's full version is available, players can trade, combat, and mine in an online space universe.
The "Star Citizen" crowd funding campaign started back in 2012 and since then has become the biggest game project there is. It is also considered as the most successful crowd funding project in existence, according to IGN.
Adding to that is the reveal of more actors enlisted to participate in the already star-studded game.
Famous names like Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill and Andy Serkis have been announced to play important roles in the upcoming game.
The exact release date for the game is yet to be announced but it is expected arrive sometime in 2017 and will be available in Microsoft Windows and Linux.
