'Splatoon's' DLC update Rainmaker release date rumors: Launch finally arrives

Nintendo's "Splatoon" is introducing another update to make the game more exciting. It's not a new weapon for the downloadable content (DLC) update, but a new game mode.

The new game mode will be called Rainmaker, according to the official Tumblr page of the game.

In this game update, teams will battle it out to take possession of the Rainmaker and head back toward the base.

The Rainmaker is a shiny weapon that works like an Inkzooka, according to the official post.

Once a player has infiltrated the shield while protecting the gun, the team must head towards the enemy's base in order for the team to win.

In this gameplay, it appears like Rainmaker is just another form of Tower Control, but offers a more interesting take on the Ranked Battle.

It was also reported that the Rainmaker not only slows the movement of the player, but can hold very powerful shots.

If a player retreats too far away while in possession of the weapon, it will explode. If the battle also ends without anyone taking the Rainmaker to the goal, the winner will be the team that has the lowest goal distance.

"Splatoon" has yet again made things interesting for players and Nintendo never fails to bring something intense to the game, especially with this new add-on.

Rainmaker will be available as a DLC update tonight, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. PST (10 p.m. EST) for North American residents and on Aug. 15 at 3 a.m. BST for those in Europe, according to Jewocity.com.

Rainmaker is also "Splatoon's" last free DLC announced by Nintendo before the game's release. As for other game updates for "Splatoon," it remains to be seen if there will be any after Rainmaker.

"Splatoon" is considered a well-loved game and is one of the best games of this year, based on reviews. The game also received nominations last year from Gamescom, Game Critics Award, and Destructoid, according to The News Hub.
